After various delays, the new comedy short film; and first produced by Problem Films, begins shooting this March for a slated late April-early May release.
“A Side Order of Jimmy” was set to be released in late 2014 but was delayed due due to several issues.
In October 204, a teaser trailer was shot and released on YouTube giving the film a late 2014 release. However, a few minor errors arose and production was pushed back back. The teaser, which featured John Houston (The Bench) as Jimmy was set to appear in the film but had to drop out due to medical issues. He will still produce the film under the Problem Films banner and work behind the scenes as well. The title role of Jimmy will now be played by Houston’s brother, Jacob Houston.
Writer/director Shawn Martin stated:
“A few issues arose but we worked around them. I even had to adapt the script to go with whatever weather or season changes that were around the time. I was sad to hear that my friend and business partner fell ill but health comes before anything. John will still be working behind the scenes and producing. Luckily, we were able to recast very quickly, and within the same family as Jacob Houston – John’s brother will be playing the role of Jimmy.”
He went on to elaborate:
“When we shot the teaser back in October of 2014, we were hoping for the film to be released later that month or early November, but issues came up and the film had to be held back. It’s been over a year now and I can happily say that this will be going forward. We should start shooting in early March and we are aiming for a late April to early May release date. Maybe even sooner if all goes to plan.”
A Side Order of Jimmy is set for release late April to early May 2016 on YouTube, DVD and digital download. The film will be produced under the Problem Films banner and distributed under Joseph James Pictures.
