“Deep Fried” a new short film from Shawn Martin enters production as “A Side Order of Jimmy” remains in pre-production.
“A Side Order of Jimmy” was to be shot in late March but had to be delayed due to weather conditions. The film will still remain on the Joseph James Entertainment release calendar for 2016, but the shooting date of the film and its new release date remain undecided for the time being.
However, with that mild bad news comes some good news. A new short film will be shot in its current place. “Deep Fried” is a short stoner film written by Shawn Martin, and since it can be shot under controlled weather, it begins shooting April 17, 2016 with a planned release date of the following week of April 22, 2016. However, if things go to plan, Martin is hoping to have the film release two days earlier on April 20, 2016 to coincide with 420.
Writer/director Shawn Martin stated:
“I do not partake in these particular activates but I understand the culture. This is a film and is for entertainment purposes and with the script we have and the actors, location and everything in place, we decided it would be best to have this film be our next film and shoot it before “Jimmy” since we will be indoors and not outside, which is where Jimmy takes place.”
He went on to elaborate:
“This will be the first film under the Problem Entertainment banner, a production arm myself and John Houston created in 2015 as Problem Films before expanding upon it. John will be returning to the front of the camera as well as he will be playing one of the two characters in the film. The other role will be played by a newcomer, Nick LeClair. Keep an eye out for Nick, you will see his name on some of our future projects.”
The film we be shot entirely using the Samsung Galaxy S4 cellphone in full 1080p HD and framed in 2.35:1 using Cinema FV-5.
Deep Fried is set for release late April to early May 2016 on YouTube, DVD and digital download. The film will be produced under the Problem Entertainment banner and distributed under Joseph James Pictures.
