Charlottetown, PE – Problem Entertainment is making the official announcement today, February 2, 2020 that it will be breaking off into a separate solo entity and focus only on film production and distribution.
Problem Entertainment was launched in 2014 as a production arm of Joseph James Entertainment under the supervision of Shawn Martin and John Houston. The brand’s name came from the Apollo 13 space flight that ran into issues in orbit on it’s way to the moon. From that mission came the famous line: “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” This in part, being Houston’s last name as well is where the brand’s name has come from.
In 2017, it was rebranded entirely from Joseph James Entertainment, a company founded in 2008.
After a total of 12 hard years, 2020 marks the final year of the Problem Entertainment branded family. The studio will focus only on film production and distribution, with the first film as a solo entity being the ever-delayed Seclusion, which will be released in mid-2020. “This was a hard decision to make but it was a needed choice,” said Martin. “After we release Seclusion, Problem Entertainment will lay in dormancy until new film projects are being made. There was a thought if closing down entirely but we made the choice to branch the other brands off under a new umbrella entirely. Problem Entertainment will just be Problem Entertainment. No sub-labels, no other brands. We will be focusing only on film production and distribution when film projects come around.”
The brands that will be branching off will be owned by Solar Red Entertainment, a company ran entirely by Martin. Problem Entertainment will still be ran by Martin alongside John Houston.
The brands that are branching out are Solar Red Photography, Solar Red Publishing, Unbreakable Recordings, SR71 Records, and Solar Red Digital.
All music albums, books, and non-film property made after 2014 will transfer ownership will transfer over to Solar Red Entertainment while all film property will remain at Problem Entertainment.
Closing entirely are: Joseph James Pictures, Joseph James Records, Solar Red Clothing and Dark Dungeon Books. Any reprints or re-releases will be distributed by either a brand of Solar Red Entertainment, or if a film release, by Problem Entertainment.
Problem Entertainment will run via its current social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and the website will be shutting down when the domain reaches its expiry date.
