Problem Entertainment is a Canadian independent production company located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Originally founded in 2008 by Shawn Martin as Joseph James Pictures and was created to self-distribute his own films.

In November 2011, the company released their first film, "Chest Pain," a short film by Shawn Martin on the internet and has released it on DVD in January 2012 which also featured the experimental short film, "Drip."

In early 2012, the company released "Retaliate," an action thriller short film starring John Addison MacKinnon and David Horton. It was released to the internet in March 2012 and on DVD in December of that year and also features the experimental short film, "Drip 2: Drip Harder" as a bonus. Later that same year, John Houston joined the team and took over 50% of the company and was announced as the vice president.

In 2013, the company picked up it's first outside project, a script from Ryan Gallant titled "I Promise." The film was directed by company co-owner John Houston and was released on the internet in May 2013 and was later released on the "Short Film Collection" DVD in November 2013.

In the summer of 2013, the company started production on "The Bench," which was originally planned to be released in 2010 but had to cancel due to various issues. The film was released in January 2014 on DVD, digital download and limited edition Blu-ray.

In late 2015, the company changed its name to Joseph James Entertainment where it held brand names it used for each proper occasion.

In April 2016, the studio released the short film "Deep Fried" on various online platforms. It was released the following month on DVD.

In 2017, the company rebranded as Problem Entertainment and renamed several studios as well as closed a few, merging those into newly created brands.

In 2020, the Solar Red brand branched off into its own entity -  Solar Red Entertainment. Problem Entertainment was initially set to close after this announcement, but both Martin and Houston decided it would remain active, focusing on mainly film production with Solar Red taking over distribution.

Since 2017, the studio has been in constant development, filming and editing of its short film "Seclusion" which hopes to release sometime in 2021, being distributed by Solar Red Studios, a dba of Solar Red Entertainment.
